Electric Powered Bikes, Motorbikes and Bicycles, Folding Bikes and Bicycles

An old coworker of mine had an electric ebike. She rode that to work and back frequently: about a 2 mile trip one way. A current co-worker uses one of the new electric scooters to get to and from the shuttle lot where he parks--about a mile away. This page is a great overview of a variety of electric bikes. Seems like this is an area that is growing of late.

  The Flying Scot - Introduction
The Flying Scot - Introduction

I saw a "Flying Scot" over at Durst Cycles in Champaign, but I assumed that was just a name given to a Raleigh bike. I'll have to check and see.

Stokemonkey is an electric motor assist kit for Xtracycle Sport Utility Bicycles. Xtracycle gives almost any bike amazing cargo capacity, and Stokemonkey gives you the power to haul it over mountains or swiftly across town."

Rick Langlois pointed me toward this rather expensive electric motor add-on for bikes.

Xtracycle - Sport Utility Bicycle Lifestyle
Xtracycle - Sport Utility Bicycle Lifestyle

A new bicycle type, perhaps, that I'll need to add to my wish list. Pretty cool, an extension that you add on to the back of a bike and then enough hauling room to do groceries. They call this, cutely, an SUB, but its really a pickup bike.

Oil is for sissies

The Oil is For Sissies is THE most popular blog off the University of Minnesota's campus-wide blog service. It's about cycling, politics, and the current zeitgeist; cycling is big in all campus towns, but it's really big at UM!
